Leeds Leads the way in Yorkshire

Leeds solicitors Irwin Mitchell and Beachcroft have recently proved that all is not lost in the face of global economic crisis. Amid the gloom of the credit crunch, Irwin Mitchell solicitors have claimed several top ranking titles in ‘Chambers UK: A Client\'s Guide to the Legal Profession’. Yorkshire boasts some of the top ranking solicitors outside of London in cities such as Sheffield and York. But the researchers at Chambers declared the Leeds firm to be the best in the county for Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence. Solicitors Rachelle Mahapatra and Jane Horton of the respective departments were named as top performers. The study, which is an independent national review of law firms, went as far as naming individuals at the practice in other departments such as Kevin Cunningham of Corporate Finance. Other achievements were the dispute resolution department achieving number two spot in the region, and the restructuring/insolvency department moving up to third. And Chris Jones’ skills with complex matters of Restructuring and Insolvency will prove useful in the light of the current economic climate. Meanwhile, Beachcroft have announced that their position remains strong despite economic difficulties. Their half year results have been declared at £54 million. They too have had some developments in clinical negligence, hiring eleven solicitors from the Leeds and Newcastle branches of Eversheds. However, their position is not as strong as that of Irwin Mitchell. Beachcroft are being taken to court for the not unsubstantial sum of £3 million for their part in a failed professional negligence case against Hacker Young.
