Role & Qualifications
Part of the Firm's largest Division, the Contentious Group has 30 partners and in excess of 150 other fee-earners firm-wide providing litigation and dispute resolution services to blue-chip, house-hold name clients across all sectors, both nationally and internationally. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Role The role will work closely with Partners across the Contentious Group who lead commercial dispute cases on areas including shareholder, partnership and general corporate disputes, private equity and hedge fund disputes, information technology, tax, trusts, pensions, international arbitration, fraud, IP, regulatory, PFI/PPP and general contract disputes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skills & Competencies required The successful applicant will need the following skills: · Flexibility, supporting cases across a broad range of commercial litigation issues. · The ability to manage complex cases and clients, working largely unsupervised where appropriate, with proven negotiation skills – instructing counsel and delegating to and supervising others where appropriate. · The ability to use initiative and a confidence built upon solid success and achievements. · The ability to liaise effectively with other fee earners from within the group, but also to liaise and coordinate with fee earners from other relevant disciplines and jurisdictions as required. · The ability to contribute to the general upkeep of the group (whether that be to training, precedents, or know-how generally) · The willingness and ability to support business development activity, creating and maintaining strong client relationships. · Be keen to operate in a challenging, team-based environment. · Regularly updates technical expertise · Displays a knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear, precise, practical advice with minimal supervision There are excellent prospects for progression within this role and within the firm as a whole -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Background The successful candidate will have: · Excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent. · Experience of handling large commercial litigation cases gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level. Exposure to judicial review and/or a corporate seat would be an added advantage. · Clear understanding of the operation and structure of a Top 15 law firm. · Ability to achieve continuous improvement and development.
