Everyone in our firm has the opportunity to develop professionally, be recognised for their commitment and rewarded for their contribution. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Group/Team Part of the Firm's largest Division, the Contentious Group has 30 partners and in excess of 150 other fee-earners firm-wide providing litigation and dispute resolution services to blue-chip, house-hold name clients across all sectors, both nationally and internationally. The Contentious Construction group operates from both Leeds and Manchester and consists of 5 partners and 17 other fee earners. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Role The role will assist the construction and engineering litigation team, whose work frequently involves litigation before the English courts, arbitrations (both domestic and international), adjudications and mediations, plus general contractual advice to an impressive range of major blue-chip organisations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skills & Competencies required The successful applicant will need the following skills in addition to those identified for an Associate Level 1 on the Careers section of the website: · Flexibility, supporting cases across a broad range of construction & engineering litigation issues. · The ability to support complex cases and clients, working with minimal supervision where appropriate. · The ability to use initiative and a confidence built upon solid success and achievements. · The ability to liaise effectively with other fee earners from within the group, but also to liaise and coordinate with fee earners from other relevant disciplines and jurisdictions as required. · The ability to contribute to the general upkeep of the group (whether that be to training, precedents, or know-how generally) · The willingness and ability to support business development activity, creating and maintaining strong client relationships. · Be keen to operate in a challenging, team-based environment. · Regularly updates technical expertise · Displays a knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear, precise, practical advice with minimal supervision There are excellent prospects for progression within this role and within the firm as a whole -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Background The successful candidate will have: · Excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent. · Experience of handling significant litigation cases gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level. This may or may not already include construction litigation, but the successful candidate will be keen to further develop their experience in this area. · Clear understanding of the operation and structure of a Top 15 law firm. · Ability to achieve continuous improvement and development.
